Tuesday Things...

Amazing...the weather today turned out fabulous! Norah and I went to check out our school's first ever home baseball game for a little bit which was held at Retreat Park. Between Staples Park (tennis and soccer) and this park (baseball)...they are soooooo nice. I feel spoiled having these parks just minutes from our home! I was proud of the students as they were playing a great game and it was fun to see everyone out cheering for them!
The sky was bright blue, the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect this afternoon...loved it! All this great weather has me itching to be outside more (especially after these yucky rainy days.) This past weekend we were able to be outside and get some flowers planted, yard work (still more needed!) and we have been eating on our back porch (I love having a screened porch.) Jeff actually took Norah to the beach this past weekend too and needless to say, she had a blast! Love that girl! She loves the water!

Did anyone see "How I Met Your Mother" last night on TV? I don't always watch that show anymore but the episode last night was hilarious! Classic. You can watch the last scene HERE...it requires you to understand that Barney believes that Ralph Macchio is not the real Karate Kid (I loved that movie!) You also may need to remember that Barney once dressed liked this before...
I saw some peeps on Facebook post a picture of these...
Those look like a fun thing to have living at the beach and would make a cute gift! Well tomorrow is the half way point of the week and the dogs are getting a much needed haircut! Cannot wait for the weekend!

Camp and Be Positive...

It is official...Norah and I are going to Buddy Camp at St. Christopher this summer! I am so excited! I went to St. Christopher for a few years when I was younger and loved it! I cannot wait to see what Norah thinks about it and the camp experience.
Well TGIF! Another week is done and it only leaves 4 weeks before the end of school...how crazy is that!? Don't you wish that everyone was more positive sometimes? It can be a struggle to stay positive when you are around those who are more of a "Negative Nelly" attitude. Oh well...life goes on. So here are some helpful quotes (all from Pinterest) for those that need a boost and I honestly have to keep reading them myself lately! Be positive people...life is too short!

And when in doubt...

Three Things Thursday...

1. I'm still amazed about all the information coming out in regards to the Boston Bomber situation. But at least there are some positive, good stories and heroes that surround the event too and not just the bad.

2. Life has been crazy lately. Jeff is working a lot and I have a lot on my plate. But with everything...this too shall pass...and we hope to be back into our routine.

3. One of the blogs I check out for school ideas has some super cool links. You can see all of them HERE but...I'm totally showing my class #4 tomorrow. I bet one of them will want to order the water bottle to see if it really works! (I even want to order it to see if it works....)
My Favorite Girl!

The Peace Dove and Stuff...

Norah's latest painting is one of my favorites she has done to date! I wish you could see it up close...there is a lot of detail.
She is getting really good at it and I was really impressed! I tried to get a close up but I only had my phone for both pictures so it does not give it all the glory it deserves!

I cannot wait to see what next week's picture will be...we are going to have an Art Gallery at our house! I think I'm just going to dedicate an entire wall in the dining room to her paintings and just switch them out as needed.

  • Here is some random stuff for ya. I want this Elsa top...please go on sale one day! Can be found HERE

  • Speaking of sales...the Friends and Family Sale (lasts till April 28) is going on at Saks Fifth Avenue and I would love these for 25% off with code FRNFAM2 (and honestly TB rarely goes on sale!)
You can use discount on this Elsa top pattern...

I have these in blue and wear them all the time! You know I need some black ones!

I seriously could have all my shoes by Tory Burch (all can be seen HERE)...I love them! Well let's be honest....the next money I spend on clothing will be for baby girl as it is time to outfit her for the summer!

  • And now...movies....has anyone heard anything about "The Big Wedding?" It has a lot of peeps in it...

And of course...I cannot wait to see "The Great Gatsby" It is going to take a lot to make me like it without Robert Redford but I think it will be good!

Well I'm off! Two more days till the weekend...cannot wait!

The rest of the week...

I watched CNN all last night and it was surreal. I am glad they captured one of the Boston Bombers and I wonder if the "why" will really ever be answered.
Since last posted...the week has been busy (as usual). Got a job offer from a school I visited last summer...staying at my current school so did not accept it but it was so nice of them to remember me! Norah went to art class on Wednesday and painted a turtle. She really enjoys going to the class and we love our collection of original art so far!

After her class we picked up some food and headed to the beach...we had dinner with Wil, Amanda, Lilly and Willow. It was at the most amazing house...I could live on the porch! It was so nice to catch up! Thanks for having us over!

Then Thursday Norah had her Spring Program at school ("Squirm!") and it was Grandparent Day. Since none of Norah's grandparents were in town...Aunt Susan filled it!! Norah loved her Aunt Susan coming! The program was really cute and the kids had fun! Then Norah got even more spoiled as Aunt Susan and Uncle Bill took her out from school and to lunch at "The Blue Crab"...she loves that place. She then got to go to their "new home" for awhile to hang out. She was so worn out that she fell asleep in the car after I picked her up from Aunt Susan's place and slept for an 1 1/2 hours in the afternoon! Thanks again Aunt Susan!

Next up...Thursday night was an impromptu Girls Night Out...and Sally, Glenn and I headed out for a drink at "Frank's Outback". It was a great time! I love sitting outside right now...the weather is awesome!

Friday was a busy day at school and once we got home....we all crashed! We watched a lot of CNN and just tried to regroup! I should add that all week...Jeff was super busy with work too! I guess when it rains it pours! Now we are getting geared up for the day...and feel a little more rested.

So now to leave you with something completely off topic...I was randomly surfing the web and saw something on the "Catching Fire" movie (watched the movie preview...cannot wait till November!) and saw this line that was under a picture of Katniss and Gale kissing...it seriously made me chuckle out loud! I love humor like this. Read this... "A kiss between Katniss and Gale, who is kind of like Peeta — if Peeta were a wild centaur hunter from the forest with great abs. But I ask you: Can Gale bake bread? No he can not. Although he can probably kill a sabre-toothed tiger with his bare hands." (Source) I am team Peeta!

Still in shock....and what has been happening...

I really am in shock about what happened in Boston. It seemed surreal. It brought back memories of September 11. When I heard about it...I wondered if something else would happen. I am in shock of the videos they have shown on TV and watching people crumble to the ground or bleeding. It is awful. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in Boston and in our country in general. Innocent people. It just makes me sad.
This past weekend Norah and Jeff headed to Charlotte to attend the funeral of our sister-in-law's mother. I was not able to go as I had committed to being at work that day and attending a school event. Norah had a blast playing with her friends, cousins and Vee Vee! She loved going to our old neighborhood and hanging out with the Oliver and Williams Families and then getting to go to Aunt Robyn and Uncle Buck's house too. She got to make balloons animals with Vee Vee too. She also loved having a trip with just her and her Daddy. I missed them lots! I stayed home and attended a middle school play at our school...the kids were great! I also was productive and got a lot of cleaning done. Now if only I would work outside...our yard is a hot mess! Jeff and Norah returned on Saturday and we had a low key night! Sunday we missed Sunday School but made it to Church. We then had dinner with my Mom, Denny, Aunt Susan and Uncle Bill. We watched the Masters (loved that Adam Scott won!) and then the week started! Yesterday Norah was asked  to be a "model" in a catalogue that comes out in the fall. They took her pictures at school...cannot wait to see what it ends up looking like...I think she modeled a book bag! Today was another day...whew! We have been busy and I feel that I have been at school or doing something for school a lot lately but with only about 6 weeks left...it is to be expected. Today the 6th graders, myself and two parents went out to lunch which was a lot of fun! One of the biggest perks for our school is the small class size. I could have never randomly taken my 6th graders out to lunch with one day notice. They are some great kids! Now if you just read all of that...bless you! So I feel I need to put some picture to end this with so here is one of Norah and her cute friend, Ellie, from the other weekend.

Thursday Things...

My sister-in-law (Robyn) lost her mother this week. When a loss occurs...it makes you reflect on things in your own life and you always start to think about the ones that people leave behind. I think a death is hardest on the ones left behind. So our family's thoughts and prayers go out to Robyn and all her family. We love ya Robyn and are here for you. I sure hope to see you soon!

I also had Book Club this week. I love our book club! Everyone is awesome and I am so lucky to be a part of such fabulous women. We are all different and add so much to each time we meet...I love hearing opinions and thoughts from each person (even though I am slack and didn't actually read the last book...it is on my TBR list!!!) I also needed a "girls" night and...ummm...some wine....like no other too! Y'all are so great! Cannot wait till the next one! The next book was chosen and it is...

I'm excited about reading it as it sounds great and got good reviews. Well tomorrow is TGIF and then a weekend that hopefully will be productive. I am loving the good weather lately and think Spring is finally here! It will be nice to spend this awesome weather at the beach...I feel so lucky!

Lots of random stuff...

1. Tonight is the one award show that I usually find entertaining....if only Adele came to sing a song too then it would be super awesome!
2. I did watch some movies this week in my sickness mood. I watched "Hunger Games" a zillion times as it was free on Amazon Prime. The more I watch it...the more I like it and I totally love who plays each part. Now I am very excited about the next one to come out. (HERE is when I saw it at the movies and thought I didn't love it because it was different then book)
I also watched "Mansfield Park" and loved it...of course. You know I love British stuff and Jane Austen to boot...yeah!
3. On the book front...in March I finished "The Gargoyle" by Andrew Davidson. It was good but I wanted it to be better. It is not for the faint of heart.
I am about to finish a re-read of "Pride and Prejudice"... always love it! I also watched the movie at some point during the week too as it was on TV...that is why I ended up picking up the book to read. And I am currently reading "Fall of Giants" by Ken Follett...it is good and I only put it down as it was easy to read "Pride and Prejudice" this week as it is on my Kindle and "Fall of Giants" is a real book. When I was still feeling yuck and the beach trips...it was easier to take the Kindle with me.
4. Speaking of "Pride and Prejudice"....our very own Darcy had a birthday the other day. He and Finn (Finn's birthday was in March) are now 3 years old! Can you believe it! They are so cute!

5. Also this week is the start of the Masters golf tournament...which is such a fun event to go to and watch on TV. It always reminds me of the golf scene and The Heritage golf tournament follows it. The Heritage at Hilton Head is where I met Jeff 11 years ago...crazy huh?!
6. You need some pics of Norah from today! Here is a pic of her leaving Church...
And she went with Ellie to a birthday party...here are she and Ellie on their way...they are the cutest!
7. So here is a completely random tidbit that proves that I am not hip...but oh well! As I was watching "Hunger Games"... I was thinking about the actors and I remembered that "Gale" (Liam Hemsworth) was the boy who is with Miley Cyrus (gracious..help him!) and then I realized (actually wikipedia told me) that he is the brother to Chris Hemsworth. I mean what must their parents look like!! I'm just sayin'...Wow!
8. Today is the last day of Spring Break....now only 7-8 more weeks of school before Summer Break is here! (I actually have to work some this summer but still....)

Not exactly as planned...

Well last Sunday...the Easter bunny did stop by our house and left some goodies for Norah!
Then we had a great lunch with my mom, Denny and two nephews who were in town for most of the week. Everything was great and Norah even stayed the night! Then I woke up Monday feeling strange, throat bothering me, cough and just was "off." We had a beach day and just hung out...I even got to see my friend Julie (even if it was brief!) (And Mrs. Julie and her family have gotten two pet rabbits...now Norah wants one too! We told her we might get her one down the road...)

Tuesday I woke up and boom...sickness was here. I had a fever all day even on medicine...103 fever at that! I could not even read a book as my eyeballs felt on fire. Needless to say, nothing happened that day! Luckily my mom was able to pick Norah up and she got to have fun with them.  Wednesday came and the fever was gone but I felt awful still and was pretty worthless and only able to do bare necessities around the house...again my mom totally helped out and took Norah again. Thursday...better but everything made me tire easy so still one of those days but at least it rained so I didn't feel as guilty. And Thursday also brought Jeff home not feeling so good...
Friday came and it was just Norah and I...we did puzzles, built a fort, had treasure hunts, etc. (Jeff had a super busy week this week too and got some of my sickness except not the fever part) I did have some Mom guilt as I originally planned to take Norah to Charlotte for part of the week and wanted her to have fun for her Spring Break...but she was a trooper and made the best of it. I do think she misses her friends and having ready playmates around. It worked out nicely that she was able to hang out with her Nini and cousins and had a lot of fun with them! We did have some family time today which was needed and so nice. Anyway...today I feel normal and now I have to catch up (I feel slightly overwhelmed with what all I have to do!) I think tomorrow will have to be a get up early kind of day as there is a lot to do before Monday rolls around. Even though I wish I had a few more days of Spring Break left instead of one...summer is right around the corner!
